Sadly, I just heard the news today. I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your profound loss. Vinnie was such a good man. Always had time to visit with his friends & customers. Always made time for a joke and always extended a kind word. Vinnie was such a cool guy with a genuine & huge heart. He loved his family & community so much. He will definitely be missed!

Dear Vince,
I know you will read this message and I hope you share it with the angels looking over your shoulder.

I’ve known you since the first week you opened your restaurant here in California and have followed your brilliant career ever since. You truly were a man I would describe as “Bigger than Life”. A man whom everybody knew and loved. There was never a moment that I went into your place that you weren’t chatting up a storm with someone. You were always quick with the laughter, advise, fine food and family warmth.

I enjoyed every one of your restaurants whether dining with friends, co-workers, business associates and my wife. She most remembers you for your great personality, the way you looked at life and that you were the only man I would let flirt with her. For years, my best friend and I would come in every Wednesday and order a large Stromboli pizza.

Since we moved to the South Bay, eating at your restaurant became less frequent but whenever we could we’d stop by just to see if you were there or in Florida. I knew you enjoyed your boat and fishing but I liked seeing you up here better. When we finally found out that you had left us it was a great shock to us and it hurt us more than we had expected. When I spoke to Michael, I could see that the hurt was still in his heart and he had a difficult time talking with me.

So, angels, take care of this great man and my friend. I’m sure he will liven up the place. While you’re at it, comfort his loved ones left behind and let them know that he is well and at peace.

Your friend, Charlie

I work at Mel Cotton Sporting Goods and I was grateful to happened to meet and atleast get to know a little bit about the wonderful man Vince Fiorillo. I was very upset to hear about his loss. Vince was an amazing person he always put a smile on my face even if I was having a bad day. He would always say "hey good looking!" one time I pulled up next to him on San Carlos and Race Street and he had his window down and I yelled "hey good looking!" Vince will be missed!

Our family is so saddened to hear about Mr Fiorillo's passing! What a beautiful Angel is He! I have many memories of Vince and his family over the years. My favorite was when my son and I went to eat. Vince was teasing his grandson Giovanni. It was so precious to see them joking back and forth... Vince said, "Giovanni, You Go Home!" "No Papa-You go home!" he replied. I turned to my son with a tear in my eye and said how that reminded me of my father teasing him when he was little! I will cherish that moment always! Our prayers & thought go out to The Fiorillo Family during this time!

By far Vince was one of our favorite customers and we always looked forward to his visits. He called just a few weeks ago to say he was running a little late and just to say hi. He always put a smile on our faces and he will dearly be missed.
From his friends and winter family at Gulf Harbor Marina our condolences to his family.

My prayers and best wishes to the family and staff. We've been going regularly to the restaurant since before it moved to it's new location. And Mr. Fiorello always would recognize and great us! I remember when he went back east a couple of years ago and found a "new" item for the menu and had us try it. He proudly displayed his family photos which speaks volumes! He will be missed.

I met Dad 16 years ago from knowing his oldest son Jerry. I later married his Daughter Renee. Any Man would be priveleged to have called him Dad and I was lucky to of had that relationship. Dad was a tough man at times especially when it came to business but I never met a man more generous or have a bigger heart then him especially when it came to his Children and Grandchildren. As everyone knows as much as Dad loved Mom and his family he loved fishing to. I am in Florida now not far from his vacation home and I went out many times on his boat fishing. He was very proud of that boat and he even named it after Mom. He called it EASY which was his nickname for Mom. I was lucky to have gone out with him a couple of times the last time he was here and his visits will be truly missed. I am proud to have called him my Father and to have been his Son. Dad, I miss you very much and you will always be in my prayers. To Mom ,Renee and my Brothers, Nieces and Nephews I love you all and miss you greatly. There is no doubt in my mind that God is getting a beautiful Soul in Heaven. He taught me about Life and Business and I will always Love him. Your Son inlaw, Michael

To the Fiorillo Family,

Words can not express our heartfelt sympathy with the loss of Vince. I'll never forget the last time we spoke with you at the restaurant just 2 weeks ago. He had several minutes to spend visiting with our family but I'll never forget that smile as he headed out the door with his sons and grandsons for a guy's night out. He was grinning ear to ear. He has left a lasting impression on our family the last 35 years and the world has lost one special man. There will never be another like him nor should there be .....he was one of a kind.

Jerry and Vincent went to school with our son Anthony at St. Justin School. Mr. and Mrs. Fiorillo were at every school event cheering on their grandkids. We spent my husband's 55th b-day on 8/27/10 at Fiorillo's and Mr. Fiorillo stopped by to make sure Dave got some of their tiramisu. Such a wonderful, generous man; such a lovely family. Please accept our deepest sympathies. Dave, Rosemary & Anthony

I can remember watching the fights on TV at the old Fiorillo's restaurant on El Camino many years ago. Mr. Fiorillo was always very kind and personable to me. He made you feel at home and like one of his friends. Besides serving a great pizza Mr. Fiorillo shared his warmth and humanity with everyone he met. The world would be a far greater place if more of us followed his welcoming ways. Have no doubt that he will be missed by all who ever had the privilege to meet him.

Dear Elaine, Renee and the Boys...
I was very sad to hear about Vince. I'll never forget the first time I came in to the restaurant to interview for a job and he was yelling at somebody - in his typical loud Italian way!! I was a little scared of him at first, but I got the job and he and the rest of the family were always wonderful to me (and also to my kids). Please know I think of you often, and I am sure heaven is enjoying some wonderful pizza now!

I can't say that Vince and I were friends. I couldn't even say for sure that he knew my name. But he always stopped by my table and made me feel as if we grew up on the same block. He will be missed.

October 22, 2010

Dear Fiorillo Family,
We were very sad to hear of your loving husband and father's sudden passing. We ate often at the restaurant with Roy and Linda Picchi and Vince would come and sit with us at our table and talk of the little things that mattered, family and food.
He will be missed. Know you are all in our prayers as you journey through this difficult time.

WOW - Where do we start? From the Italian foreign exchange students we took to the restaurant (who said Vinnie's pizza was better than anything they had in Italy) and the amazing Chicken Marsala he would personally make for my husband and the kindness he showed to everyone that crossed his path. The world was definitely a better place with him in it. Our hearts go out to Elaine and family, we know how much you will miss him. May God bless you all.

Ever since I was a kid I always loved going to the restaurant and hanging out with Vinny when he would visit the table, even knowing he was going to pinch my cheeks hard enough to make them sore for the rest of the day. I got to know him as a friend of my father's, then as a boss (at the pool hall) and finally as a friend of mine. I learned a great deal from him. After moving to the east coast for college a trip home was not complete without stopping by the restaurant for a great meal and to catch up with Vinny, I often think about the time he took me up to the Delta fishing, now that's a story in itself. He certainly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
