Barbara Roof Obituary

Barbara Meader Roof, 84, died peacefully on Nov. 8th surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Whitinsville, Mass, and graduated from Bates College in Maine with a degree in Political Science in 1954. She then moved to Washington D.C. to work for the CIA. While in D.C. she met Richard, her husband for 60 years.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent many years hiking, backpacking and camping with her husband and their three children - David, Robin, and Steven.
Barbara was active for over 30 years in the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, serving as its president and as a hospital board member. After retiring, Barbara and Richard traveled to over 25 countries. In 2005 Barbara and Richard moved from San Jose to Saratoga Retirement Community (SRC). Barbara was active in the community, joining many committees and activities including swimming, mahjong and volunteering in local schools.
Barbara is survived by her husband Richard, children David, Robin, and Steven, daughters-in-law Michal, Debbi and Maddy, grandchildren Danielle, Dylan, Maria and Sarah, her brother Ray and many loving nephews and nieces.
Celebration of life will be Dec 27th at SRC.
