Clearly, my mother's love and her motherly embrace extended to the far reaches of this United States, and even the world... For to qualify for family status, one needed only to seek out a piece of her heart, and they were connected. The obituary lists survivors as three children, a brother and many grandchildren; truly, she is survived by many, many who sought her nurturing, her compassion. As if a surrogate mother, she held them unconditonally near...to remain forever. It is only now that I realize the expanse of her embrace...her "I Love You"...
Rest in Peace, Auntie Lu! Rest in Peace, Nana! Rest in Peace, Mommy! You are forever loved by each and every one of us!

Just outside my kitchen window is hibiscus tree. It is really unusual. It blooms all white blossoms and one pink blossom. Every time I look out my kitchen window I think of Auntie Lu because she planted it for me when she came to visit my Mom (Auntie Rusty) and me. It was a scaggely dying bush and I was going to toss it, but Auntie Lu patiently snipped away the dying leaves and taught me how to graph, plant, and groom this sad little bush into the most amazingly beautiful tree, just like her. Hibiscus Love Auntie Lu, Hibiscus Love,
Lois

My life is richer because I knew you. I wish we had more time together but I know that you are at peace surrounded by the ones
who love you. I am glad that I had the opportunity to know how great a Great Aunti I had. Tell Aunti Rusty that when I come to see you both I will drive you both anywhere as long as you bring that sense of Humor. Love and miss you. Your Great Niece

Aunt Lu was a wonderful example of a loving, caring, and compassionate person. She will be remembered often and never forgotten. Whenever I think of helping anyone with anything, I'll be reminded of Aunt Lu and the energy she demonstrated and the smile she always displayed.
The Moniz were blessed to have Aunt Lu in our midst.
We love Aunt Lu and will miss her deeply.
