Leonard J. Doran

Leonard J. Doran, 85, formally of Forest Hills, NY, passed away peacefully at home in Framingham this past Saturday, April 12, 2014. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Matthew J. & Elizabeth A. (O'Brien) Doran of Framingham and husband of the late Bridie (Gilmartin) Doran of Forest Hills, NY. Leonard was educated at St. Mary's High School in Waltham Massachusetts, served in the U.S. Army, attended Manhattan College, New York, NY, and went on to earn a master's degree of law from New York University. He worked for many years as a corporate attorney for American International Group, Inc. (AIG) insurance company in Manhattan, NY until his retirement. He was an avid stamp & coin collector and loved to travel with Ireland being his favorite destination. Leonard was also a master at crossword puzzles and could complete a New York Time's crossword in record time. He enjoyed a spirited card game and had a special love for children. He is survived by his son Matthew M. Doran of Queens, NY, siblings Brendan S. Doran of Framingham and F. Brien Doran of Dublin, CA, nieces & nephews in the U.S., and many cousins in Ireland. He is predeceased by his sister Rosemary A. (Doran) Medeiros and Kevin J. Doran both formally of Framingham, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00pm at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday April 16, at 9 AM from the Norton Funeral Home followed by his funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Stephen's Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fenwick St. Framingham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Leonard J.
