Jacqueline Wyman Obituary

Jacqueline M. Wyman, 80, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of 62 years of Maurice Wyman Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 25th. Born on February 8, 1933 in Hartford, Vermont, daughter of the late Roderick and Bernice (Hawick) MacDonald, Jackie led a full life. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Connecticut Farm Bureau, and prior to that, she was employed by the town of Rocky Hill at Steven's Elementary School, where she made an impact on many young children as a Librarian's Aide. She was a member of the Rocky Hill Republican Town Committee for many years, being named Republican of the Year in 1980. She served as a Selectman in the early 80's. Jackie was an active member of South Congregational Church in Hartford for over 50 years. She was one of the first female Deacons, and truly loved her church and church family. Her love of writing poetry was known to all. Everyone who was close to her was blessed to have one written for them.
Jackie was predeceased by her son, Alexander N. Wyman and daughter, Karen L. Wyman-Paine, as well as her sisters, Betty and Mary, and her brother, Roderick. Besides her husband, Jackie is survived by her son, Maurice, Jr., and his wife, Laurie, of Middletown, her son, Gregory, and his wife Donna, of Middletown, and her son, Mark of Beacon Falls. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jamie, Shaun, Danielle, Eric, Jeffrey, Paul, Kevin and Katie, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Beth, Becca, Zack, Addie and Adam. She is also survived by her sisters, Bunny Cook, Lynda MacDonald and Maggie Gannon.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Jackie's life will be held on Saturday, August 31st at 11:00, at South Congregational Church, 277 Main Street in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Alexander N Wyman fund or the Karen L Wyman-Paine Education fund at South Congregational Church. There will be no calling hours.

I remember Mom Wyman best when I joined South Congregational Church of Hartford, CT on Palm Sunday of 1986. I had married into the Wyman family, who all grew up in this church. When I joined the church, Jackie gave me a card saying, "Welcome to your extended family." Not only did I have birth family now, but a family from marriage and now I understood about the Christian church family. As I reach out getting to know other churches, I only add to my Christian family, and will see you Mom Wyman, Jackie in Heaven as we will see Jackie... Thank you Jackie for the life you have shared with us. Thank you Mo, Dad Wyman, for sharing your beloved wife with us. Love and Prayers to all the family.

Grammie was the best! She treated everyone like family. I am one of the lucky ones who got to be a part of the adopted Wyman crew, and the love I've learned from Grammie and her family will forever change my life. I found one of her Christmas poems in my car a couple weeks ago when I was cleaning out my car, and saved it. I will cherish it forever. I love you all!
