Vernon John Peaslee III Obituary
Born Feb. 1, 1960, in Augusta, Maine, he was the son of Ingrid Shafer Peaslee, of Maine and the late Vernon J. Peaslee Jr.
Vernon was a 1978 graduate of Cony High School in Maine and then joined the U.S. Air force, where he served his country for two years and was honorably discharged in 1981. He then attended the University of Maine in Orono and Manchester Community College, where he attained his associate's degree in 1995.
Vernon was a former member of the DeMolay of the Masonic Lodge, a past Cub Scout leader, a primary school teacher for Sunday School, and he had been a mall Santa for several years, which he truly enjoyed.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his two children, Patrick Peaslee and Christina Peaslee, both of East Hampton, two brothers, Bill Peaslee, of Maine, Hans Peaslee, of Maine, and two sisters, Shirley Barry, of Higganum and Heidi Peaslee, of Maine.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cromwell Ward. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in East Hampton. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA Camp Ingersoll Gathering Place, 99 Union St., Middletown, CT 06457. To leave online condolences please visit www.spencerfuneralhomeinc.com.

I worked with Vern at Ames Dept. Stores home offices in the late 80s. I remember him at his drafting table singing along to INXS and David Bowie, he made working in Store Planning a lot of fun. He had a huge heart and made us all laugh. May God bless Helen and his children, and watch over them. My sincerest condolences.

To Helen and family, Losing Verne leaves a huge void in our group as he as a true and loyal friend. It was a great pleasure to be able to help Verne in any way possible as he was truly appreciative. The world couldn't ask for a more dedicated family man as he spoke often, and proudly, of his family. The best legacy each of you can carry on in Verne's memory is to continue carrying on your lives as you have been and to remain strong as his family being able to carry on was his biggest concern. I regret that my own fight with cancer precluded me from attending Verne's services, this in no way detracts from the love and respect I had for him. If I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me, especially if Patrick needs a friendly voice to comfort him in his time of need. Mr. P will truly be missed. I'll never forget all the concerts and deep conversations I've had with him and Pat. The Peaslees have been like a second family to me for years now and his passing has truly affected me. We'll always miss you, Mr. P.

We new Vernon as a child when we were friends with his mom and dad. So sorry for your loss. Ingrid we just lost our son also Raymond Gay Jr. Sept. 7th.we know of your pain he was ill for two years, please accept our condolences. God Bless all of you.

Never will forget how much Vern loved his wife and children, they were all he ever talked about. He loved his mom and Maine. Oh, and his Sox, he was a hardcore fan. He'll be dearly missed by the Group.

We can't put into words how sad we are about Vern's passing. How wonderful he was to Bobby and that he took him into his home and treated him like his own son. Vern would give you the shirt off his back. What a wonderful man! All the kids loved being around him. He acted like a kid himself. Going to concerts with Pat and his friends. Staying up and talking with them about music. Always about the music and the rock groups. You will be sorely missed!
