George Pyne Obituary

Mr. George F. Pyne, III, 74, of Milford MA, died Thursday (November 26, 2015) at his residence after an eleven year courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Roseleen (Houton) Pyne. A former Boston Patriot football player in the NFL, he, his father and his son Jim, were the first 3 generation family in the history of the NFL. Mr. Pyne was born in Milford MA, the son of the late George F. Pyne Jr. and the late Florence (Mainini) Pyne. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1959 and also a graduate of Olivet College in Michigan, where he was a standout football player, named as All Conference and an All American. Mr. Pyne was drafted by and played as a rookie for the Boston Patriots. Following his career in the NFL, he was a Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company sales executive. In the 1980s he founded Hillview Equipment & Real Estate Development Company of Milford MA. Mr. Pyne was a lifelong resident of Milford and summered with his family in Falmouth MA. He was a longtime communicant of St. Marys Church in Milford and St. Anthonys Church in Falmouth. He was a longtime member if the Milford Lions Club and had served as a member of the Milford School Committee for nine years, as well as a longtime town meeting member. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and skier. He was also a member of the Million Dollar Round Table in the insurance industry. Mr. Pyne was a member of the Milford High School Sports Hall of Fame; the Olivet College Sports Hall of Fame and had served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Olivet College. He also had the honor of having the Pyne Pavillion at Olivet College named in his honor. Along with his beloved wife of 51 years, he is survived by his 4 Children: George Pyne and his wife Helene of Rye NY, Tara, wife of Patrick Kennelly of Milford MA, David Pyne and his wife Kristin of Milford MA and James Pyne of Tampa FL; his 12 Grandchildren: Megan, Abigail, David, Brendan, Austin, Shannon, Kevin, Andrew, Rachel, Sophia, Michael and James; 2 Sisters: Mrs. Claudina Quinn of Cataumet MA and Florence Ellen Mahoney of Wellesley MA; also many nieces & nephews. His funeral will be held Tuesday (December 1st) at 10:30am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Monday (November 30th) from 4pm to 7pm. My name is TonY wILLIAMS, I was in school with GEORGE PYNE, FROM kINDERGARTEN TO Graduation from Milford HIGH IN 1959. Myself, George, Ralph D'ONOFRIO, POOCHIE MARINO, RAY INGLAIS WERE SORT OF A grammar school gang at the Plains school, George was the Big guy with such a great and easy attitude. He was GREAT. ALWAYS REMBEMBERING him During my life time, AND TELLING MY COLLEGE friends about George and how terrific he was. He had a special place in OUR HEARTS.. I am sorry for the loss of such a great GUY. So sorry for the Pyne families loss.I remember George when we went horse back riding at fairview acres in Holliston.Icould not understand how the horse could stay up because George was bigger and heavier.We went through high school and played sports togeather.George had a heart of gold but would not give anyone the shirt off his back,it wouldnot fit anyone because it was to big.I'll miss George as i'm sure all of our class mates will.

My sincere condolences to the Pyne family as they mourn the passing of a great man, my old friend George. We were MHS classmates (I was `60); he was a lot of fun to be around, a trait I`m sure he carried on into his very productive life. May he RIP.
