Marcel L. Arel Sr.

Marcel L. Arel, Sr., 84, of Blackstone, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2014 at The Friendly Home with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian R. (Arcand) Arel.. Born in Woonsocket, RI on November 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Donatien and Lydia (Paul) Arel. He was the loving father of Nancy L. Rinfrette and her husband, Lawrence of Woonsocket, RI and Patricia M. MacRae and her husband, Earl of Blackstone, MA. He leaves his cherished 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A resident of Blackstone and formerly of Bellingham for 55 years and previously Woonsocket, Marcel worked for 37 years at Rosenfeld Concrete as a crusher operator until retiring in 1992, and previously had worked at Varney Brothers. After retiring, he worked for Newport Creamery, Target and the Pumpkin Seed. He was a member of Local 170 Worcester Teamsters Union and a life member of the Knights of Columbus of Woonsocket having served as Deputy Grand Knight. He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Blackstone. Marcel loved camping and trips to the casino. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 9th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
