Max L. La Munyon

MAX L. LA MUNYON APR 30, 1937 - OCT 1, 2010 Max was born April 30, 1937 in Lavern, Oklahoma to Willis Clark and Rosa Brown La Munyon. He died October 1, 2010 in Modesto surrounded by family. He graduated from North High in Wichita, Kansas and soon thereafter came to California where he met his wife Joyce. They recently celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. Upon settling in Modesto with his young family, he embarked on a successful painting business career that lasted over 30 years. Max had a zest for life and was loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered by family and friends alike as an honest, hard working, good, kind person with a great sense of humor and always there to extend a helping hand to those in need. Max was an active member of the Sherwood Bible Church where he regularly attended with his wife Joyce and family. He was always involved with his sons during their school years as well as later on. He enjoyed family gatherings and especially liked attending both grandsons' sporting events. They were the delight of his life. Preceding him in death were his parents, a precious sister Esther La Munyon, beloved brother Gerrold La Munyon and two dear brothers, Stephen La Munyon and Cash La Munyon. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his two sons Dana (Mary) La Munyon and Scott (Shelli) La Munyon and two grandsons Eli and Levi La Munyon, three sisters, Iris Greaves, Mildred Pearson, and Lila La Munyon, brother Harrold (Bunny) La Munyon, sister-in-law Judy (Ron) Brouhard, brother-in-law John (Carmen) Laudenslayer, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He is not gone, but just waiting ahead of us. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 4-8:00PM with a service held Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00PM both at Lakewood Funeral Home Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Avenue - Hughson, CA.
