Clarence Wood Obituary

CLARENCE DOUGLAS 'DOUG' WOOD AUG 2, 1930 - NOV 6, 2010 Clarence Douglas 'Doug' Wood age 80 of Newman, passed away Saturday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Mr. Wood was born in Oceanside, CA and was a resident of Newman for 57 years. He was a Lab Technician for Carnation Foods Can Production. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War as a Cook, he was also stationed at the Crows Landing Naval Air Base. He was a member of the American Legion Post 240 of Gustine and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Wood of Newman; sons, John Wood of Newman, Ronald Wood of Merced; daughter, Elizabeth Lynn D'Anna of Newman; brother, Paul Owen Wood of Escondido; sister, Ellen Watkins of Escondido, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna King and Alice Wilcox and brother, Edwin Wood. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 10th at the Orestimba Presbyterian Church in Newman. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 pm, Monday, November 15th at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. Remembrances may be made to Charity of Donors Choice. Services conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman. www.modbee.com/obituaries
