Cleo Denney Obituary

CLEO DENNEY MAR 6 1917 - SEPT 14 2010 Cleo Denney was born March 6, 1917 in Lindsey, Oklahoma to Bertie Alexandria Blankenship and James William Johnson and passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Modesto, Ca. at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 8 days. She graduated East View High School near Willow, Oklahoma and had been a Care Giver and Councilor at Christian Homes of Abilene, Texas for 20 years before her retirement at 73 years. Her love and devotion to the Children in her care inspired the naming of their new home, "The Denney House" in her honor. She attended Davis Park Church of Christ since moving to Modesto in 1995. She was a devoted and active member of the Church of Christ all of her adult life and was an inspiration in Christianity to all who knew her. She was faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted. Preceding her in death were her Parents, her Beloved Husband, Woodrow Denney in 1970, four Brothers; Buck Johnson, Westly Johnson, Vanoy Johnson and Bill Johnson, and two Sisters, Margaret Ann Patrick and Alta Franks. Survivors include a Son, Darrell Joe Denney of Altus, Oklahoma; a Daughter, Cyndi Lindsey of Modesto, California, two Sisters, Elda Loy Avery of Chico, California, and Bonnie Ruth Berry of Olustee Oklahoma; six Grandchildren, five Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. Cleo Denney was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Parent, Grandparent and Friend. Her gentle and loving spirit will be deeply missed but her life lessons will live on in all of our hearts. She is not gone, but is just waiting ahead for us.Celebration of Life Sunday October 3, 2010 at Davis Prk Church of Christ off Rumble Rd at 3 pm.
