I was Ernie’s 1st Wife. We were both young and obviously not mature enough to be married. We always remained friends and I would run into him occasionally before he moved to Washington. I saw him one day with his daughter at the Hughson Fruit and Nut Festival. She was a cutie with blonde pigtails….he was such a proud dad. Ernie was a natural born teacher. Always explaining how things worked and why…..always fixing something…..always giving advice (sometimes unwanted) :):) He was determined when trying to figure out how to fix anything and it was amazing how he always figured it out! His parents were wonderful people and always so good to me. I remember his mom sitting in her chair eating rice puffs and telling Ernie to behave. I remember his dad’s barrel laugh and silly sense of humor. I remember how Ernie picked at his little brother Marc. I scolded Ernie often for it…but he never listened. Mark always looked up to his Big Bro Ernie. Ernie was a wild one in his younger years and made lots of mistakes (as we all do). I believe his goal was to be the best dad possible and prevent his children from making the mistakes he had. My understanding is he was very successful and has 2 wonderful kids. Ernie loved to eat. I remember how he loved cream puffs and would ask me to make a batch to share with co-workers at Dow Hammond. He loved Swiss Steak and fried Pork Chops with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. My mom and step-dad lived in San Francisco during our relationship. We made many trips to the City in the Green Panel Truck. Our favorite were the shopping trips to Cost Plus Imports, eating sourdough bread with shrimp cocktail on the wharf, Sausalito and the many street fairs checking out the hippie stuff (jewelry, tie dye, leather, etc.). I remember my parents taking Ernie and I to the Fillmore to see “The Grateful Dead. Another memory….Ernie being so tall, pointed out to my stepmom that the top of her refrigerator was dusty. From that point on whenever he visted, she made him clean the top of the refrigerator. So many memories….sooo long ago. Ernie will leave a lasting impression to all that knew him. RIP Ernie, Diana

Dear Johnson Family:
This lighted candle is in remembrance of Ernie, his quick wit, funny sense of humor, his love of life and nature.
I am saddened that I am not able to attend Ernie's "Celebration of Life". I really miss all of Ernie's delightful and informative Facebook postings and pictures. He was a great guy and has been missed over these past few months. God Bless you all and know that you are in my thoughts.
Sincerely,
Donna DuBose Pearson
