Evelyn H. Donovan

EVELYN H. DONOVAN NOV 16, 1912 - NOV 20, 2010 Evelyn H. Donovan passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 20, 2010 at Evergreen Rehabilitation Care Center in Modesto. Evelyn was born Nov. 16, 1912 to Chester and Edith Mary Darling in Glendive, Montana. She was the 6th of 7 children. The family moved to the Modesto area around 1922 where her father was a farmer. She graduated from Modesto High School in 1931. Evelyn married Glenn O. Donovan on New Year's Eve at midnight, Dec. 31, 1931. They had 4 children: Rosemary A. Spencer, James M. Donovan (deceased), Katherine J. Dressler (deceased), and Glenda L. Nagel. Evelyn had 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. In 1944 Glenn and Evelyn moved to Orange County where Glenn managed Bridgeford Foods in Anaheim. In 1980 they moved back to Modesto. They joined and were very active at Big Valley Grace Community Church. They opened their home for a Home Bible Study Group for 7 years. Evelyn was also involved in three separate prayer groups. She always corresponded with several missionaries working in foreign countries. Evelyn loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and was a great influence on everyone who know her. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and was always a very good cook. Family was very important to her. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rosemary Spencer (Covina CA) and Glenda Nagel (Gilroy CA). She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn O. Donovan, her son, James M. Donovan, her daughter, Katherine J. Dressler, her grandson, Philip Donovan, her great great grandson, Jonathan Wall, and all of her siblings.
