Jesse Boone Obituary

JESSE LEE BOONE NOV 22, 1937- SEPT 29, 2009 A beloved husband and father passed away after a courageous battle with prostate cancer that metastasized to the bone. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Ralph and Vera Boone. He was married to Marleta Overholtzer in Empire, CA on March 30th, 1961. Jesse loved to study, work with his hands and spend time with his family at home. He was an accomplished cabinet builder for over forty-five years and worked for Barbosa Cabinets from July 1991 to his retirement in August 2008. He was a Modesto resident for over 35 years. This past July he had the privilege of walking his daughter Rhonda down the aisle, which he greatly delighted in. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 48 years, Marleta Boone, his six children Loren Boone of Citrus Heights, CA, Melina Holsinger of Ohio, Rhonda Hauser of Camarillo, CA, Anna Helmuth of Michigan, David Boone of Modesto, Rachel Prescott of Modesto. Also survived by his brother Ralph David and sisters Laverna Boone, Barbara Taylor and Lois Currens, all residing in Florida. He was also blessed with twenty-nine grandchildren. Jesse was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Hurst as well as both parents. Both the Visitation and the funeral services will be held at Wood Colony Hall at 3549 N Dakota Avenue in Modesto. Visitation from 4pm-8pm on Saturday, October 3rd and Funeral Service at 3:00pm Sunday, October 4th. All flower arrangements to be sent to Franklin and Downs funeral home.
