Joe Machado Obituary

JOE L. MACHADO SEP 27, 1921 - NOV 23, 2010 Joe Laurence Machado was born in Modesto California to Manuel & Stella Machado. He was the eldest son of 14 children. Joe ran a dairy farm in the central valley, bought, sold, and trained draft horses for 50+ years. When he retired, Joe settled in Turlock but he drove four days a week to the bay area to work at Castle Rock Park where he gave hay rides to children's groups and private parties and on occasion helped friends with field work during hay season. He was active in California Draft Horse Association; where he participated in the horse pulling event at the Stanislaus Count Fair for 57 years. He was also a member of the California State Oxen Association for the last 3+years. Joe loved anything to do with horses and a good story. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Joe is survived by his wife Marie Machado, son Dwayne Machado, sister Lyola Leo, grand daughter Megan Fontes, grand son-in-law David Fontes and great grandson Dominic Fontes. Visitation will be held from noon to 7pm Today at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at Turlock Memorial Park. www.turlockmemorialpark.com. www.modbee.com/obituaries
