Mary Sauerwein Obituary

MARY ELINOR SAUERWEIN JAN 10, 1914 - OCT 30, 2010 Elinor was born on January 10, 1914 to Emil and Ida Baumgart in Crookston, Nebraska. She passed away on October 30, 2010 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California at the age of 93. Elinor grew up in Crookston and after she graduated from college she begin teaching. She also worked for the Nebraska Postal Service while attending college. It was in Nebraska that she met future husband, Harold Sauerwein. They were devoted to each other. She and Harold moved to Modesto in 1945 where Elinor worked for L.M. Morris until the birth of her son, Steven. Elinor was a avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs in the Modesto area. She played bridge every week until her early nineties. Elinor was a member of the First Christian Church for 50 years. Elinor is survived by two grandchildren, Megan and Danny Sauerwein both of New York and a nephew, Dale Stolzenburg, of Crookston, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, her parents and her sister, Dorothy Stolzenburg. Private burial, with no public service.
