Rose Deus Obituary

ROSE L DEUS MARCH 1930 ~ DEC 2010 Rose Deus ~ 80 of Hilmar passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House with her family by her side. Rose was born in Berkeley Ca, to Manuel and Maria Loura, she attended Berkeley area schools, graduating from Berkeley High School; choosing to further her education she attended a few college courses. In 1948 Rose met Joe R. Deus, whom later would become the love of her life, they were married in 1949 and shared 35 years together, before his passing in 1984. She and Joe returned to Joe's home town of Hilmar, in 1957 where they settled down on the family dairy to work and raise their children. Rose was a devoted wife and mother. She would do anything to help her children and grandchildren, and took pride in her independence. Rose was also a very devote and faithful catholic, as a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Hilmar, Rose was an active volunteer at the church, as well as a former member of the YLI and Alter Society. Her recent passion was in the growth and construction of the new church facilities at Holy Rosary. Rose is survived by her children; Gloria (Norman) Bettencourt, Joe Deus, Steve (Carol) Deus, all of Hilmar, brother Manuel Loura of Hilmar, grandchildren; Stephanie Marson, Jerry Marson, Jack Deus, Gerald Deus, Philip Deus, Monica Deus, and Stephanie Rose Deus, and great grandchildren; Alex, Damen, Megan, Nicholas, Nathan, and Evan. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Deus and five brothers. Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary, Tuesday, Dec 28th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Rosary and Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar, Wednesday, Dec 29th at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at North Hilmar Cemetery, and will conclude with a Celebration of Life: details will be provided when the graveside service concludes. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Holy Rosary Building Fund ~ 8471 Cypress St, Hilmar CA 95324. Allen Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I met Rose through the Water aerobics class she attended during the summers in Hilmar and also knew her through church activities. Rose was an inspiration to all of us at water aerobics. Your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.
