Verna Eastin Obituary

VERNA SHELDON EASTIN SEP 8, 1921 - OCT 11, 2010 Verna Sheldon Eastin passed away in Whittier, California on October 11, 2010 at the age of 89. She was born in Oakland, California on September 8, 1921 to Milton and Margaret Sheldon. She became a registered nurse and joined the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She married Modesto dentist and musician Donald Eastin on January 13, 1945, and they were married for over 50 years. She was an avid reader and was known among her friends and family for her sense of humor. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Modesto. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Claude Eastin in 1997, and son Michael Claude Eastin in 2007. She is survived by daughter Donna Christine Laine and grandsons Matthew Charles Laine and David Christopher Laine of Whittier, California. Memorial services took place at White Emerson Mortuary in Whittier on October 14, 2010 and at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson under the direction of Franklin & Downs Mortuary on October 18, 2010. She is dearly loved by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Hospice in Whittier, California. www.modbee.com/obituaries

We are sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. We moved in across the street from her in 1998 when our daughter was just three years old. Your Mom really enjoyed showing Alex the doll house your Dad made. She was a very sweet lady and we have fond memories of her.
