Hope Aydelott Obituary

Hope Galloway Aydelott
1920 ~ 2010

CARMEL VALLEY, CA - Hope Galloway Aydelott died at her home on July 15, 2010. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Aydelott and her husband, the late Alfred L. Aydelott, moved to Carmel in the 1990s from Orcas Island, Washington, where they had built a home and lived for many years.
Mrs. Aydelott was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1920, the daughter of Robert E. Galloway and Mirian Mooney Galloway. She attended Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in Purchase, New York, and graduated from Southwestern University (now Rhodes College) in Memphis. She was active in the Memphis Junior League and the arts community and wrote the society column for the Memphis Commercial Appeal. She married Mr. Aydelott in 1952 in New York City.
In Carmel, she was a member of Casa Obrego, an avid tennis player, and a collector of contemporary art. She enjoyed the company of many friends.
Mrs. Aydelott will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis. Survivors include her sister, Mimi Galloway Duncan of Palm Beach, Florida; her cousins, Louise Frazer Mooney of Berea, Ohio, and Charlotte Mooney Milnor of Memphis; her stepsons, Martin V. Aydelott of Minneapolis and Alfred L. Aydelott of Weston, Massachusetts; and these irreplaceable friends: Isabel Gallo, Rosario Lewis, Francisco and Marguerite Gallo, and Carmen Gallo, all of Marina, CA, and Dorothy Johnson of Monterey.
The family requests that friends who wish to make contributions in memory of Mrs. Aydelott should make them to the charity of their choice.
