I served in South Korea with Col. Cunningham. He was a fine man and terrific soldier. He served as my CO with Special Troops at Camp Red Cloud, Uijongbu, South Korea, 1969-70. I was honored when he awarded me with the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for my service while under his leadership. At the time I was living in Los Angeles and he in Monterey, California. He always paid high compliments about Monterey and in I once paid him a visit at his home in Monterey. I eventually purchased a home in Pacific Grove (on the Monterey Peninsula) and now understand what he meant about the beauty of Monterey. RIP Col. Cunningham.

"Uncle Jack" was a beloved member of our family. The way he lived his life....with dignity and integrity, spoke volumes about the man he was. Uncle Jack and I spoke many times about our "military" lives, and he was an icon for me to admire in my childhood. The sacrifices he made for this country are much appreciated. I was always amazed at how such a strong man could have such a gentle spirit. RIP, Ed Sandell
