IRENE MARLOW Obituary

Our beloved mother, Irene Price Marlow, 86 was gathered into the arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, passing peacefully at her sons home in the Montgomery, Alabama area. She was born on May 22, 1926 to Nancy and Leonard Paudy Price of Selma, NC. Irene had a strong spiritual faith that provided her with strength in her final years, worshipping at Morning View Baptist Church. Irene loved cooking for her family, gardening, reading, visiting San Diego with her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. All of those who knew her bore witness to her selfless concern for her widespread family and circle of friends.

Irene was the loving wife of George, predeceased, and is survived by her daughter, Anne Marlow Fitzgerald, son-in-law, Steve Fitzgerald of San Diego, CA, and her son, George David Marlow; daughter-in-law, Angelle Marlow of Deatsville, AL; her sisters, Geraldine P. Narron and Louise Formisano; her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Irene's life will be held on Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00pm at Morning View Baptist Church in Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity.

Ann and David,
My heart is sad and heavy with hearing of your mom's passing. Ms. Irene always had a smile on her face. As the years have gone by, my mind frequently goes back to our growing up across the street from each other and wonderful memories formed, and our mom's sharing of the "Smithfield Herald", to get the latest NC news. May the family memories sustain you during this difficult time. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. God Bless You!

Dear Anne & David, My heart goes out to you for the loss of your dear mother. Aunt Irene was beautiful, caring and wise. She had a great sense of humor, & was adventurous & brave. As a kid, I marveled at how she & our grandmother used to go fishing together in the backwoods. I was amazed when she told me she drove a huge Mac truck in the shipyard in Newport News! She was an extraordinary person who I loved dearly. She is with the angels now, resting peacefully.
Love, Cheryl Formisano

Irene, you were a blessing to those around you. We grew up like twins in our childhood, and I loved you. When you left home at 17, it was a sad day for our family, and especially for me—life was not the same. I pray with all my heart that we will meet again and be with our Lord Jesus, forever & ever. Love, Louise

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I am glad to have had the opportunity to know Irene. On this side we see a death, from the other side they have a birth. A new babe was born into heaven. Yes we feel pain, but not without hope. Jesus defeated death at the cross so we could spend eternity with Him. Will see Irene again.

Ann & David,
So sorry for the loss of your Mom. I knew her when she lived in Newport News & attended Parkview Baptist Church. Your Dad & my Uncle Clifford Freeman worked together in the shipyard. I often went with my Aunt Louise Freeman to pick Uncle Clifford & you Dad from work after the 2nd shift. So long ago & so many fond memories. I remember your Mom as being a sweet & gentle lady. Take comfort in the fact that she is now in the arms of Jesus.
Prayers & God Bless

We saw Irene's obituary in Sunday's Daily Press here in Newport News, Va. Thank you for posting it. Just like you, much of her life was lived here. Your words expressed her Christian faith and her character which defined her and provided hope and strength for life here and hereafter. May the Christ that she knew provide you with peace that passes all understanding as she has now departed and joined the happy congregation at the throne of her Lord and Savior. Ann and David and family members we are thinking of you today and of your dear mother.

Aunt Irene,
One of the most candid people I have ever known. She had a kind and loving spirit that will remain in my heart forever. "To change the future is to understand the past," and Aunt Irene, being the custodian of the Price family history, provided me with insight and a greater understanding of our family, that led to just that. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die!
