Frances Grant Obituary

GRANT, FRANCES

Frances Wilcox Grant, age 90, of Montgomery, AL died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Charlton Place Nursing Home in Millbrook. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23rd from 5-7 pm at Leak Funeral Home in Montgomery. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 24th at 11:00 am at the Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, AL with the Rev. Chad Ward officiating.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles B. Grant, Jr. and her sister, Lillian Wilcox Spight of Demopolis, AL.

She is survived by her children, Paula Grant Wallace (Joe) of Linden, Chuck Grant (Carole) of Montgomery, Walker W. Grant (Angie) of Montgomery, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Grant was born October 6, 1924 in Frankfurt, Kentucky to Rev. and Mrs. Irvin Walker Wilcox. She graduated from Huntingdon College on May 24, 1924 followed by her wedding the same day to her husband of 48 years. She was a long standing member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery.

After her marriage, Mrs. Grant taught English at Linden High School, was active in the garden clubs and bridge clubs in Linden and later in Montgomery after moving there in 1969. She was a volunteer at the Montgomery Museum for 25 years.

A bubbly outgoing personality characterized Mrs. Grant. She loved people and was greatly loved by many.
