Elsie Faulkner Obituary

Elsie Jean Faulkner Elsie Jean (Chapin) Faulkner of Glenside passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Chestnut Hill Hospital. The daughter of the late John R. and Carrie (Kinzel) Chapin, she was 90. Joseph Faulkner and Elsie married in 1946 and raised four children. They have been residents of Glenside since 1952. Elsie graduated from Germantown High School in 1939 and attended art and music school. She will long be remembered as a church organist, choir director and piano teacher. She began her organist and choir director career at the age of 17. Elsie provided 25 years of musical service at Grace Methodist Church in West Oak Lane and then served at Jarrettown United Methodist Church in Dresher for 18 years. She led multiple choirs, shows, concerts and youth musicals. Starting at 13 years of age, and stopping at the age of 90, she taught hundreds of piano students. During WWII, when Joseph was away in the Army, she taught 63 piano students per week. Elsie and Joe enjoyed traveling, whether to Europe, in the U.S. or just going for rides in the country. She naturally enjoyed spending time playing the piano and organ at home. Elsie will be missed by Joseph, her children, grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and their children. Elise is survived by her husband, Joseph. She was the loving mother of Lyn Faulkner of Glenside, Carol Pfancook and her husband, Norman, of Morrisville, Pa., Randy Faulkner and his wife, Ellen, of Chalfont, Pa., and Claudia Flannery and her husband, Phillip, of Galloway, N.J. She was a loving grandmother of Jeremy Pfancook and his wife, Andrea, Laura Faulkner, Jared Pfancook, Sean Flannery, Judd Faulkner, Ryan Flannery, Jonathan Pfancook, Lauren Buckhammer, Carly Flannery, Sam Faulkner and great-grandchildren Ella and Chloe Pfancook. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Haich. Guests were received at Jarrettown United Methodist Church, 1460 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025, on Tuesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park,. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elsie's memory can be made to the Jarrettown United Methodist Music Fund. Arrangements were made by John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
