1955 – 2014
Peacefully, in Ottawa on Monday, February 17, 2014. Devoted community leader, scholar and public servant. Beloved husband of Shoshana Kagedan for thirty-eight years. Loving father of Lila (Avi), Aharon (Karen), Talya, and Ariel. Proud grandfather of Ilan Kagedan. Survived by his three brothers, Allan (Barbara), Steven (Amy), and Tom (Marcia). Remembered fondly by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his beloved parents, Joseph and Miriam Kage. Special thanks and gratitude to his dedicated caregivers and nurses, Christina, Diane, Josianne, Maya, Melissa, Wendy and Yvette; and the deepest of thanks to Myla, his right hand throughout his illness. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., Montreal on Tuesday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. Shiva will take place in Ottawa Wednesday through Monday morning, please contact Congregation Beit Tikvah of Ottawa for details (613) 723-1800. For those unable to visit in Ottawa, there will be a brief Shiva in Montreal following the burial, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Shomrim Laboker Congregation, 5150 Plamondon Ave. Donations in his memory may be made to Jewish Family Services of Ottawa, (613) 722-2225, to ALS Canada, (800) 267-4ALS, or to Canadian Friends of Yad Sarah, (416) 781-6416.
