Our beloved Nitza left us on Friday, May 9, 2014. A mother, teacher, and lifelong educator, she lived life with unequalled passion and energy. Despite challenging health conditions at various periods throughout her life, and more seriously in recent months, she remained exceptionally active through work and countless community projects. A teacher equally by profession and by love, she was devoted to her students, through all levels of their education and development. 'Ima' to Sharon and Oscar. Sister to Nechama (Yankale) and Ruth (deceased). 'Doda' to many nieces and nephews in Israel, and devoted cousin to many more. Colleague, confidante, and collaborator to a diverse and extensive group of friends. Nitza had an uncanny knack of bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds - bridging gaps in culture and understanding through dialogue, art, compassion, and, often, a lemon poppy seed cake. Nitza was equally devoted to preserving Jewish culture and identity in her adopted home as in ensuring its strong and healthy evolution. Definitely one of a kind: a unique, generous, giving, and fun-loving woman and she will be missed. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Montreal Workers' Circle Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva at 6595-C Kildare in Côte Saint-Luc, through Thursday evening.
