SHAFFER, Vivian
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Viv in Vancouver, B.C., on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Devoted wife of Dr. Julius Wroblewski. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Dr. Gloria and Allan Tannenbaum, Elaine and Dr. Michael Malus, and Brenda Shaffer; and sister-in-law of Thomas and Junnaa Wroblewski. Daughter of the late Tillie and the late Max Shaffer. Adored aunt of Elyse Tannenbaum and Leonard Seidman, Rhonda Tannenbaum and Ian Lipton, Caroline Tannenbaum, Dr. Beth Tannenbaum and Lee Wise; Dr. Eli and Dr. Natalie Malus, Shem and Elena Malus. Loving great-aunt of seven. Vivian's legacy will not be measured simply by what she accomplished, but rather by the quiet and supremely kind way she touched those around her. Her life was not defined by material things, but by the relationships she nurtured and treasured. Her rare combination of humility, positivity and acceptance of others drew so many individuals into her life: it was an honour and privilege to know her. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Graveside service on Sunday, August 25 at 4:00 p.m., at the Machziki Hadat Congregation Cemetery, (D6) de la Savane, first gate, close to Victoria, left on Row D. In keeping with Vivian's wishes, there will be no Shiva. Contributions in her memory may be made to the "Vivian Shaffer Memorial Fund" c/o the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, (514) 934-4846, or to Agence Ometz, (514) 342-0000. Arrangements entrusted to Paperman & Sons.

It is three years later, and I was first among many to suffer the loss. Vivian was my wife and what more can be said about the pain of this sad event. I try to carry on in her name. Many thanks to all who have sent their heartfelt messages.

Dearest Vivian,
I am always absent minded.....I always receive good wishes from you during Christmas and New Year. I have not received these two in the latest months. I was trying to call you on Skype and I found Dr Julius' announcement on the page.....I could not believe that my lively, charming, kind-hearted good friend passed away ever in Aug last year. My pain I cannot describe.....
Vivian is one of my best friends although I have known just 5 years. I told her all my pain and joy, she is always listneing and caring.......RIP Vivi my good friend.........Vivi is a close name that I call her.....our prayers for you in Heaven........Rachel/Dragon in Hong Kong

I have known Vivian for at least 35 years and we had never lost touch. She always struck me as one of the most vibrant, positive people I knew. Rick and I saw her in Las Vegas last november, 2012 (I hadn't seen her in a while), and it was as if she had never changed from the day I met her - fast, energetic, lively, positive and so many other wonderful characteristics that made her distinctly Vivian.
