SCOTT CHANDLER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2015.
Scott passed away on August 30, 2015 after a long illness at age 31. Beloved son of Elizabeth and Lawrence and sister of Petra (Kris). He will be missed by his niece and nephew, Oma and Opa, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Scott's early interest in art became a professional passion for photography and technology. Scott earned a BFA at OCAD where he received several awards and was subsequently recognized as among the top emerging photographers in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. He attained an MFA at Concordia University in Montreal, which became his new home. He earned the respect, friendship and admiration of many, while retaining his independent nature throughout. A celebration of Scott's life will be held in Aurora, Ontario in the near future. For information regarding in memoriam contributions, please go to www.scottchandler.com.

Thanks to an article in The Guardian on the subject, I saw Scott's pictures on Fordlandia. It's really sad that such a talented person passed away.

Scott's talent was inspirational and his kind support invaluable, his generosity means that his spirit will live on, not only in his own work but in the work of those he encouraged. I have great admiration for his courage, his good humour remaining even in the past few months. He'll be greatly missed. My condolences and best wishes to Scott's family and friends.

I came to know Scott as my MFA thesis student at Concordia University, and grew to admire him as a great friend over the years. Scott was a very kind and generous person, sharing his knowledge, good humour and compassion with all who surrounded him. From him, I learned what it means to be truly selfless. I will dearly miss him but know he will live on through his work and through those who admire him.

Scott was a classmate of mine at Concordia. He was such a kind and hardworking person. I cannot express how much respect I had for both him and his work. Scott will be missed.

Scott was a fantastic brother to me. He was never the typical annoying younger sibling, he was always mature beyond his years and kept me laughing with his sharp wit. I'll continue to miss Scott every day but I know he will live on through his art and my incredible memories of him.
