FORTIER, George Lionel, MD CM
Passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Rideaucrest Home on October 18, 2016 surrounded by family. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Ruth (Parsons), and dear father of Kenneth (deceased), Bruce and Mary (Coughlan), Leslie and Mike Tull, Martha, Scott and Linda (Beauchamp) and loving grandfather of Katie and Matt (Reed), Alexa, Grant, Taylor and Hayley. Predeceased by his parents, Mabel Wolfe and Lionel, his brothers Paul and Ronald. He was a devoted husband for 64 years to the love of his life, Barbara, and he was a great inspiration to his children and grandchildren. His life was his family. We remember being challenged at family dinners to think for ourselves. His hobbies included golf, skiing, fishing, squash, tennis, reading, and astronomy including making his own telescopes. Graduated from McGill University in Bachelor of Science '48 and Medicine '52. He was a wonderful doctor, respected by the people in the community of Baie d'Urfe, Quebec. As per Georges wishes, cremation has occurred and a family memorial will take place in the spring in Montreal. The family would like to thank the very kind and caring staff of Rideaucrest Home.
