(Known to most as "Bubby Ray")
Peacefully at the age of eighty-eight on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, surrounded by family, friends, and her caregivers. Beloved wife of the late Nathan. Loving mother of Richard (Ruth), Marcie-Ann, and the late Don. Cherished Bubby of Carly, and Sam Gilsig, Joshua (Samantha) and Avram Spatz. Predeceased by her dear siblings and their spouses, Ethel and Saul Chirnomas, and Manny Karp. Sister-in-law of Ruby and the late Mindy Gilsig, Toby and Clare Gilsig, and the late William (Bill) Gilsig. Special thanks to Cecilia, Fay and Lulu for their exceptional care and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Thursday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Independent Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at 6565 Collins St. #410, Côte Saint-Luc, Thursday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Contributions in Ray's memory may be made to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, 2003 14th Street NW, Suite 103, Calgary, AB, T2M 3N4, or www.cdss.ca, or 1-800-883-5608.

Dear Marcie and Richard,
My condolences on the passing of your Mother, Ray Gilsig. My fondest memories of her are her deep love for both of you and her grandchildren, her confidence and strength, shopping skills, and her Jewish mother ways especially when making a great meal in the kitchen. Her memory will be a blessing to both of you, her grandchildren and future great-children.
