Forever missed

My condolences to the family.
Thanks to Richard Conrad for his mention of The Gazette Stylebook, an original creation of Joe Gelmon.
My memory of Joe is having to spend considerable time in the photo files in the library, looking up obscure photos to serve as art for the Penny Miner column, which Joe edited.

Joe's wit lightened the mood when copy-editing at the Toronto Star was a grind, like at 3 in the morning. My condolences to you, John.

I remember Joe from both the Globe and Mail and the Montreal Gazette as one of the best of the senior editors at both papers. Always professional, knowledgeable and occasionally a little edgy. Condolences to his family.

An unforgettable character & colleague. I am grateful for the memory of this good man. We worked together in the 1970s at the Toronto Star.

As long-time former colleagues at the Toronto Star and Montreal Gazette, I had the privilege of knowing Joe for almost 40 years. He was undoubtedly the best grammarian I ever encountered witness the masterful and highly entertaining Gazette Stylebook he created in his role as that paper's chief copy editor (NB: lower-case title in accordance with Joe's rules on capitalization). Joe could be, by turns, cryptic and cantankerous, kind and funny. Over the years, he also proved to be a loyal friend and a loving father. Joe, we'll miss you.
Condolences to John, Martine and members of Joe's extended family.

John and Martine, my deepest heartfelt condolences. I have many fond childhood memories growing up close to your father, and I wish you many blessings during this time.

Condolences to the Gelmon family. Crossed paths with Joe often in The Gazette's editorial department. Always smiling, not a mean bone in his body and always curious, which is why we frequently bumped into each other in front of the bulletin board. It was usually hectic on our floor, but Joe just ambled along at his own leisurely pace.

Dear John, Martine, and Family: My sincere and heartfelt condolences to you both and your family. I feel I know your late father through you and the stories you have shared with me. We often reflect our parents though our similar traits and characteristics. He will be remembered in prayer as you all will be during this time. Peace and Strength.
