Kenneth Causby Obituary

Kenneth William "Poochie" Causby, 59, of Ponderosa Road in Morganton, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born May 20, 1950, in Burke County, and was a son of the late Robert D. Causby and Zula Gates Causby. Kenneth was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and and a retired fire fighter with the Enola Fire Department. He retired from Great Lakes Carbon Corporation where he had worked for 28 years. For many years, Kenneth also worked at the Morganton Tire Store. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Hazel Penley Causby of the home; a daughter, Heather Causby Brown and her husband, Marty Brown, of Morganton; grandchildren, Macray, Raelyn and Kerrigan Brown; a brother, Ted E. Causby and his wife, Norma, of Valdese; sisters, Jo Ann Mills and her husband, Bobby, and Linda Sue Wilson and her husband, Wesley, all of Morganton; and sisters-in-law, Judy Causby of Valdese and Jean Causby and Jettie Causby, both of Morganton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy, David and Bill Causby. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sossoman Funeral Home.
