Scott Welko Obituary

LORAIN – Scott A. Welko, age 55, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his home.
Born on July 18, 1960 in Lorain, he graduated from Admiral King High School in 1978, where he was a member of the band. He then attended Ohio Institute of Technology in Columbus and earned an Associate Degree in Electronics in 1980.
Following graduation, Scott moved to Boston and worked for Honeywell. He then returned to his hometown and worked for Diebold and eventually worked with his brother Daniel at Great Lakes Auto & Marine in Lorain.
Scott had the "gift to gab" and liked visiting with customers and friends. He enjoyed playing the trombone and spent many hours listening to old radio shows and his extensive music collection. Scott was an avid fisherman mainly fishing for muskie.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred (nee Toothman); his brother, Dr. Jeff (Linda), of Stow; his niece, Dr. Ashleigh Welko; his nephews, Nicholas and David Welko; and his cousin, Mike (Karla) Smith, of Clarksburg, WV.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel H., in 2012 and his brother, Daniel L., in January, 2015.
The family invites friends to a memorial gathering on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Chaplain Sandie King, of Mercy Regional Medical Center, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice.

my condolences to the family..I'm in shock...met Scott at boy scouts. ....I always considered him my best friend during those yrs....we both left lorain...and we both came back to ohio...I'm so glad I was able to meet him again about 10 yrs ago...the first time we saw each other we talked for 2 hours about nothing and everything...he never changed from when we were kids...I guess I can say it now....when I would go to great lakes...to buy something. .if it was a small item..he would never charge me..but he would tell me "don't ever tell danny"....and we would just laugh....it was our little secret...I'm going to miss those trips to great lakes....to see scott and danny.....even when I wasn't buying anything....thank you Mrs welko for letting me sleep at your house the night of danny's wake...

My condolences to Mrs. Welko, Jeff and the family. I still remember riding bikes in Masson School's parking lot with Scott as kids. He was always such a nice guy. May he rest in peace with Dan and his dad.
