Amelia Anne Sliman

AMHERST - Amelia Anne Sliman, 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 12, 1929 in South Amherst. Amelia graduated from Amherst High School in the class of 1947 and had made her home in the Amherst area her whole life. Amelia was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in South Amherst. She loved to write letters and notes to her friends and family.
Amelia leaves to cherish her memory her sisters Mary Sliman of Amherst and Anne Stines of Falls Church, Virginia; niece Judy Stines of Blufton, South Carolina and nephew Ralph (Lisa) Stines of Myersville, Maryland; great niece Nichole Stines and great nephew Jack Stines; as well as many cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Sliman at infancy; sister Elizabeth Sliman in 2002; and by her parents Abraham and Ngmey Sliman (nee: Joseph).
Friends may call Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will begin with closing prayers held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by the mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Rev. Fr. John Tezie, pastor of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church will co-concelebrate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst, Ohio 44001 or to Saint Joseph Catholic Church 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, Ohio or to the charity of the donors choice.
