Nancy L. Vieritz

1940 - 2018

Nancy L. Vieritz (nee: Neubauer), 77, of Elyria, died, March 1, 2018 after a brief illness.
She was born May 3, 1940 in Cleveland and was a 1958 graduate of Westlake High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Kent State University and a Master of Arts in Reading and Early Education from Baldwin Wallace College. Nancy had been employed as a substitute teacher in the Elyria City Schools and also as an instructor at Lorain County Community College. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria and sang in the church choir. Nancy had been a volunteer for the Elyria Public Library, library book sales, Lorain County Historical Society and Mercy New Life Hospice. She was a former Cub Scout den mother, Boy Scout troop leader and involved in PTA. Other interests included traveling with her husband, reading, playing piano, knitting, crocheting and participating in theatre drama.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard P. Vieritz whom she married in 2004; daughters, Laurie Schofield of North Ridgeville and Holly Sanker of Elyria; grandchildren, Elizabeth Schofield, Jacklyn Sanker and Nathan, Samantha and Jessica Hirsch and a sister, Chris Sampsell of West Pueblo, Colorado.
Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard L. Schofield in 2000 and a son, Robert A. Schofield in 2017.
Friends will be received Monday March 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 11:00 in the funeral home with Reverend Patrick Nicolino officiating.
