Alfred Tarango Obituary

Alfred P. Tarango, Jr., 69, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at his home. He was born October 25, 1942, in Midland, Texas, to Petra and Alfred Tarango, Sr. He married Mary Bustillos Tarango on October 18, 1961, and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. He performed with the Starliners in the 60's. He worked with Carters Furniture, for 27 years as a Serviceman, and then worked for First Presbyterian Church, for 10 years, and then retired in 2008. He was a hard working and hands-on man, always building and improving his home for his family to enjoy. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, and loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Alfred was always helping others, whether family, neighbors, or his upholstery customers. He will be missed for his smile, warmth, inner strength, and respectful demeanor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Petra and Alfredo Tarango; sisters, Otllia Hernandez, Nila Abalos, and Beatrice Tarango. Those left behind to cherish his memory is wife, Mary Bustillos Tarango of Midland; sons, Alfred Tarango, III of Odessa and Tommy B. Tarango of Midland; daughters, Patricia Tarango Rodriguez of Midland and Jennifer B. Bard of Dallas; brothers, Elias Tarango and Rudy Tarango, both of Midland; sisters, Hilda Saldgnia of Tye, Delia Menchaca, Angelina Mora, and Alice Ochotorena, all of Midland; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. A rosary will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 27, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, October 28 at 3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Edward de Leon, OMI, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. Family messages and condolences may be emailed to: [email protected].
