Joseph Maier Jr., 92, of Dunellen, died Jan. 31, 2017 at his home. He was born in Dunellen at 418 Lincoln Ave. to the Late Joseph and Lillian. His three other brothers also died, the Late Harold in 2012, the late Thomas in 2007, and the Late Robert in 1991. Joseph worked as a paper cutter for many years with Art Color in Dunellen and afterward he went to work for Boises in Plainfield where he retired when he was 65. He was an Army veteran serving honorably during WWII. He also was a recipient of the Soldiers Medal. Not only was he a communicant of St. John's Church in Dunellen, but he also served as an usher for many years there. Joseph belonged formerly to the Dunellen VFW and the Exempt Fire Department.

Surviving is a brother Donald of Scotch Plains and several cousins.

Visiting will be Thurs. 8-8:30AM at the Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen and immediately following will be a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Church. Interment Holy Redeemer Cemetery, So. Plainfield. Donations in Joseph's name would be appreciated to either the Dunellen Rescue Squad or the Fire Department.
