Patricia Houchins Obituary
Plainfield
Patricia Louise Houchins a lifelong resident of Plainfield NJ passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at Overlook Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was a lifelong resident of the city of Plainfield. She had a long career working for the Board of Education the last 25 years working as a registrar at Plainfleld High School.
She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1950 then went on to graduate from New York Business College.
Patricia was an active arts consumer frequently enjoying plays in nearby New York City. She enjoyed the cinema immensely and was quite the movie buff.
Patricia was very active in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Plainfield. She was very social and had may friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband James Houchins in 2001. She is survived by her three sons Darryl Houchins of Peapack, Mark Houchins of Plainfleld, and Damon Foreman(Mary Ellen) of Columbia, MD. She is survived by one sister Mercedes Parker of Barnegat. Additionally she is survived by 4 grand children and 3 great grandson's.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Children's Specialized Hospital 150 New Providence Road Mountainside, New Jersey 07092 or Shelterbox at Shelterbox.org.
A Memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Espicopal Church in Plainfield, NJ on Thursday April 20th at 11:00 am

I'm sadden to learn that my second cousin, Patricia Houchin, (my late dad, Alexander Houston, Jr.'s first cousin) has passed away! I learned of this sad news from Cousin Gerrie of Delaware, while I was traveling. I fondly remember Cousin Patricia when she visited Aunt Etta Wooten Houston in Washington, DC (Aunt Etta is my great Aunt whom I lived with in Washington, DC). I enjoyed meeting Patricia's sons and her beautiful daughter in law and grandchildren; all relatives whom I met very late in life. I remember Daddy telling me that Patricia was the daughter of Great Uncle Bruce Houston. When Daddy visited a funeral in New Jersey he told us that he saw relatives that closely resembled us. My prayers and heartfelt condolences to all of my relatives during this difficult time.

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Houchins. She was a role model, and very kind to me as a child growing up in St. Mark's Episcopal Church. My condolences to Damon, Darryl and Mark. R.I.P. Mrs. Houchins.
