AGE: 89 • North Plainfield

E. Louise Thul, a longtime resident of North Plainfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at her home with loving family by her side. She was 89.

Born and raised in Somerville, she was a graduate of Somerville High School. While raising four sons, she went back to school and earned her BS in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University. She had worked for several years as a designer with VonGraff Flower Shop, located in North Plainfield at the time, and had also worked on numerous private landscape projects. She was an accomplished artist having worked in media ranging from sculpture to needlework, watercolors and oil earning numerous awards over the years.

Louise volunteered much of her time with local organizations, including the Teddy Bear Club, Kings Daughters and the Boxwood Twig at Muhlenberg Hospital. She was also a member of the DAR.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick W. Thul, who passed away in 2010 and her sister Barbara who passed away in 2011. She is survived by her four sons, Rick and his wife, Bonnie, Nick and his wife, Marjorie, Jim and his wife Lorna, and Larry and his wife, Jennifer; her brother Roy Amerman and his wife, Sheila; her sister, Marie Patterson; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Eric, Dana, Karin, Nicholas, Lauren, Garrett, Larry and Alex; and three great grandchildren, Brayden, Everett and Lola Mae.

Funeral Services will be held at Watchung Avenue Presbyterian Church, North Plainfield on Friday at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project.
