Beth M. Hansen Sobel, 60, died March 23, 2016 at her home in North Plainfield. She was born August 17, 1955 in Plainfield to Harry "Pete" Hansen and Mabel "Skip" Hunter Hansen. Beth was a resident of North Plainfield for 58 of her 60 years. She was a 1973 graduate of North Plainfield High School.

Beth served as Principal of West End School in North Plainfield for the last 13 years and was a dedicated educator with the North Plainfield school system since 1982. She was a member of the North Plainfield Education Assoc., NJEA and NEA. She received both her BS Degree and Master's Degree from Kean University.

Beth was predeceased by her husband, Mark Sobel, who died Jan. 8, 2000. Beth is survived by a son, Shawn J. Sobel and his fiancée Michelle Erxleben and a daughter, Casey M. Sobel. A sister, Janice Lake and her husband Greg Lake of Jamison, PA, 2 brothers, George Hansen and his wife Virginia of Middlesex and Peter Hansen of North Plainfield and 2 grandchildren, Jacob Sobel and Morgan Sobel.

She was a loving Mother and Principal whose family reached well beyond her own children. She was devoted to her staff and students at West End School as well the North Plainfield school system.

A Memorial Service and sharing of memories will be held at the United Presbyterian Church, 525 East Front Street, Plainfield on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Beth's honor be made to Smile Train at www.smiletrain.org or to the United Presbyterian Church of Plainfield.
