Joan Blomquist Obituary
South Plainfield - Joan C. Blomquist, 70, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at home.
Born and raised in Plainfield, Mrs. Blomquist resided in North Plainfield prior to settling to South Plainfield in 1973.
Prior to raising her family, Joan was teacher at the former Holy Trinity School in Westfield. After raising her children, Joan went back to teaching at the former Sacred Heart School in South Plainfield until her retirement in 2002.
A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, Mrs. Blomquist was a member of the former Laurel League in Plainfield and during her children's youth she was active with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Joan truly loved her family and her grandchildren were her world. She enjoyed vacationing in LBI, spending time with friends, Zumba classes and the Rolling Stones.
Joan is survived by her husband Edward of South Plainfield, daughter; Elissa Tedesco and her husband Christopher of Readington, son; Edward Jr. and his wife Amièe of Bridgewater; sisters, Ann O'Brien of FL., Carolyn Barone of OR. and Maria Hoey of RI. and grandchildren, Charlotte, Danny, Joey, Lila, Anna and Vivienne.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 9:15AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield followed by a 10AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4-8PM in the funeral home.

I am saddened to learn that Joan has passed. We were classmates at St
Mary's and also graduated from The Mount together. I was very happy to see her a few years ago when we had a St.Marys 51st reunion. Joan was always a wonderful person and you have my deepest sympathy. She will always be remembered with fond and warm memories. Sincerely,Connie Rocco Beck
