John G. Occhipinti

AGE: 95 • Bridgewater

John G. Occhipinti, 95, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 6, 2013. Son of the late Natale and Jennie Occhipinti, John was born in Elizabeth and lived in Bridgewater for most of his life.

John was a WWII US Army Veteran. He was part of the 9th Armored Division traveling by train from California to NY to board the Queen Mary for London. He crossed the English Channel to France, Germany and the Battle of the Bulge. John was discharged in 1945 as Tech. Sgt. John worked for Ortho Pharmaceuticals in Raritan for 37 years retiring in 1983. John was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bound Brook where he also was an Usher; St. Mary's Leisure Club and Holy Name Society. John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ann (Czado) Occhipinti; a sister, Nellie; and by his nieces and nephew.

Visiting hours will be held at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Prayers will be said 8:30 AM at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. Mary's Church in Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Occhipinti family. I worked at Ortho in the pkg. dept.and knew both John and Ann. Two special people to have known. Everyone there was like family. May he rest in peace. Tony
