AGE: 86 • formerly of Plainfield

Bernard D. Shoemake, 86, passed Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 in Lakeland, Florida. Born in Quincy, FL, he was a Plainfield resident for 50+ yrs. before moving to Florida 3 yrs. ago. Mr. Shoemake was a member of The Mt. Zion AME Church for 20+ yrs. where he served as a Steward. He was a truck driver for Joy Oil for 30 yrs. and worked for the City of Plainfield Recreation Dept. He was a US Marine Corp Veteran serving in WWII. He loved playing cards & dominoes.

Predeceased by his wife, Marvine and daughter, Jacqueline, Mr. Shoemake leaves to cherish his memory his son, Bernard Jr. (Americus); daughter, Brenda J. McDonald (Isiah); nephew, Wayne Sanders; special friend, Lois Robinson; 7 grandchildren and a host of loving relatives & friends.

Service will be on Saturday, 10 AM at Mt. Zion AME Church, 630 E. Front Street, Plainfield. Viewing, Friday, 5-7 PM at Judkins Colonial Home, 428 W. 4th Street, Plainfield. Arrangements: Judkins Colonial Home. Condolences: www.judkinscolonialhome.com

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Bernie was a very close friend to my Father Vernal Gillette and we the family have very fond memories of him.
