Lillie Campbell Obituary

Lillie B. Campbell

AGE: 87 • Plainfield

Lillie Belle Dixon Campbell was born to John Dixon Sr. and Ella Pruitt in Rose Hill, Mississippi on July 20, 1925. She died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. Lillie was raised with her 13 brothers and sisters on a beautiful farm.

Her appetite for education began early and led Lillie to become the Valedictorian of her High School. She then went on to attend college at Tennessee A & I where she met and married the love of her life Eugene Campbell Sr. After attaining her Bachelors of Science of Education in 1949, she began her quest to teach which led her to Plainfield, New Jersey, where she maintained a presence for nearly 40 years.

More than her passion for education, Lillie loved the Lord and would attend church "wherever they preached the word". Her life ministry was illustrated by her zest for life, fellow man and the love of God. Upon retiring she made several places her home including: Meridian, Mississippi, Las Vegas, Nevada and Cedar Hill, Texas. Those that knew Lillie knew that she was a social butterfly and no one enjoyed visiting with others, laughing and eating some good food quite like she did.

Let us all maintain a loving, energetic and positive spirit as she did throughout her final days.

Leading in her legacy are sons Eugene Jr., Charles and Ed Phillips, daughter-in-law Debra Campbell, granddaughter, Elizabeth McDowell, grandson and wife Joseph and J'Netta Campbell, grandsons Shi-Lynn Ruben Campbell, Brandon E. Campbell, and Avery J. Campbell. Additionally, Lillie had two great-grandchildren, Joe Jr. and Shyah J'Hari Bell Campbell, friend Claude Marsh, her sisters Alberta Hilton and Ella Lavina Taylor together with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Final arrangements are entrusted for Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89101 (702) 385-1441.

Dear Eugene & Family,
I am sorry for the loss of your lovely mother. I use to assist her with her transactions when she would come into Silver State Schools Credit Union. I met Gene several years ago when he came out to assist his mom with some personal business. She was such a special lady and was always happy to see a strong, young black woman in a professional environment. We would talk about all kinds of things. She will be truly missed but her light will continue to shine on in those that knew her.

I always enjoyed my conversations with Mrs. Campbell. I still remember the "houseboat" trip she went on with the Ski Club. My prayers go out to the family.

Dear Eugene and Family,
I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Campbell's passing. We were friends from the early 70's until I lost contact after she moved to Meridian..we were both born in Mississippi and formed a 'special' bond. She loved my youngest children, Michael and Mary and had us over when you lived on Plainfield Avenue. She taught me a lot of things and I hope that she remembered me for a long time. I am very sure that everywhere she went, she blessed the lives of all those she met. We who knew her will keep the fondest memories. God bless all of you and may he comfort you through out your mourning time.

We have such fond memories of Ms. Campbell. We knew her from Lamb of God and she did indeed love the Lord & her family. She was always smiling and only had uplifting words to say to any and all the people she met. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May God give you peace and comfort in her passing.
