REGINALD L. WARREN
PLAINFIELD
Reginald L. Warren passed Thursday, Oct. 7. 2010 at the Peggy Coloney House at Hope Village in Scotch Plains. Born in Big Stone Gap, VA., he has been a resident of Plainfield for the past 53 yrs. A member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Plainfield, he served as Vestry Member, Treasurer, Senior Warden, Lay reader, Convention Delegate, Chairman of the Expansion Project, and member of the Standing Commission on Clerical Compensation of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. Mr. Warren was employed as a data processing and computer systems operator at Schering Plough for 30 yrs. before retiring in 1990. He had also worked at the Raritan Arsenal and the Howard Savings Bank. Later becoming owner and operator of Reggies Tours and Cruises Inc. Travel Agency. Mr. Warren was also active in the Plainfield Community and served on the Board of Directors for the Plainfield housing corp. Juvenile Conference Committee, Family Division Union County Superior Court, the Board of Directors for the Plainfield Recreation Commission, and the John Runnells Hospital and Plainfield Redevelopment Corp. Mr. Warren was, a Past Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of New Jersey, Douglas Consistory #10 PHA, a 33rd degree mason, Past Most Worshipful Master of Stone Square Lodge #38 PHA in Plainfield, member of the Board of Directors of Douglas Temple Association.
Predeceased by his son, Keith and brothers, Felix and Talmage Warren, he is survived by his wife of 52 yrs, Emma; daughter, Lorraine; granddaughter, Emma A.G.; sister, Eleanor Thurman; daughter-in-law, Tracy; sisters-in-law, Carmen and Linda Bell Warren
Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 AM at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Plainfield, visitation will be held Thursday, 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local American Cancer Society or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123. What a presence he had, He was the Commander and Chief when he spoke. Loved by many and a heart as soft as a lamb. He gave me a determined spirit to never give up no matter what the obsticle was.His words of encouragement will remain in my heart he was my GENTLE GAINT he was my UNCLE REGGIE who had such faith in me ,and believed that I would be a success one day.
