ROBERT EDWARD JOYCE
AGE: 93 AVENEL
Robert Edward Joyce, of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township, died peacefully Sunday, May 31, 2009, after a brief illness at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by his family. He was 93 years old. Born in New York City, he resided in Avenel for the past 67 years. Mr. Joyce was employed as a chemical operator with Union Carbide, Bound Brook for 23 years, retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Avenel; and as a member of the Avenel Golden Circle Senior Citizens Club. Ed will be greatly missed by his family, as well as his many friends and neighbors. He especially enjoyed the family gatherings that included his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Joyce was predeceased by his wife, Marian Casamento, who died in 2004; his parents, Martin and Anna Watts Joyce; and his sister, Helen Bender. He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Glickman and her husband Barry of Ocean Grove; three sons, Edward Joyce and his wife Patricia of Metuchen, Robert Joyce and his wife Carol of Millstone, and Raymond Joyce and his wife Judy of Howell; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.Costello-Koyen.com), 399 Avenel St., Avenel. The funeral will take place at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, June 4 from the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Good Shepherd Mausoleum at St. Gertrude's in Colonia.
