Dr. Lamar W. Bomar is a towering figure in my memory growing up in Plainfield. First and foremost, Dr. Bomar was our parents' chosen physician for the entire family because he was an excellent doctor, a good person, and an outstanding role model for children and adults. Secondly, our family is Caucasian and we wanted to exemplify genuinely respectful and significantly meaningful relations between our different races. We were blessed when Dr. Bomar accepted us to be among his patients. He was our mother's physician throughout two pregnancies during the early 1950s and, if legend is true, he delivered my brother and sister into this world without a hitch. Dr. Bomar not only kept all three of us healthy throughout the 1950s and 60s into our young adulthoods, he made house calls to our white middle class neighborhood whenever one of us needed his expert medical care. I also recall being a lone and shy white child invited to play with happy black children in the comfortable waiting room of Dr. Bomar's private practice where we would then line up for our vaccinations with little or no trepidation. Dr. Bomar was always calm, gracious, gentle, welcoming, and kind. It is not at all surprising that the rest of the world discovered and celebrated this exceptionally talented and generous doctor who served the greater community for over 55 years and has inspired subsequent generations to follow in his footsteps. Thank you, Dr. Bomar!

Losing a love one of any age is difficult. My heart goes out to the entire family. Dr. Bomar has been a friend of my family for many, many years. Dr. Bomar brought me into the world, 55 years ago. He was my doctor during my childhood. His wisdom and contribution to the community will greatly be missed. Please take comfort in knowing that he will reunite with 'all' the love ones that have predeceased him... I will say a special prayer for his children, grandchildren, siblings, godchildren, nieces and nephews. Rest in the thought, that Dr. Bomar is resting, and his legacy will live on in more ways than we will ever know... God bless all... Sorrowfully written by... Tonya Halliburton-Kemp, and my mother, Clarissa Durrah...
