To the Balzarano Family:
On behalf of the Ocean Township Board of Education and all that came in contact with John, we are so shocked by this tragic loss and extend our most sincere sympathy to the family.
John truly loved his family and spoke often of his two daughters and was so very proud of their accomplishments.
As a friend and colleague, I can't express my personal sadness, but also I have such gratitude for having met John 11 years ago when Uncle Mike brought him to the Transportation Department. I noticed on his application that he dedicated himself to the family flower and greenhouse business but also attended NJIT; graduating with an electrical engineering degree. John was hired immediately and so began his career at Ocean Township.
He was a great man insisting on helping whoever or wherever possible. He quickly became like family, well-liked, and well-respected. Whether it was driving regular or special students, John made the ride safe as well as pleasurable in his own lighthearted ways. He saw things fairly and soon gained recognition with the drivers and became their driver representative. He then joined our office staff and whether it was handling driver matters, administration or parental concerns, John knew how to handle himself in any situation. He became quite knowledgeable with our computer transportation software by designing routes and initiating more innovative ways to make the program more useful to our department. In addition, he became the district's certified driver safety instructor. He was quite an asset to our department and we are going to miss him deeply.
John boosted morale in the department along with finding a humorous comment whenever possible. During every upcoming holiday he would either decorate himself or decorate the office. Then at times he would share stories about when he met and married his wife Elaine, life lessons he was taught by his Mom, Dad and brothers growing up and working together in the family business. In fact, at times when John would reflect on his life, he couldn't help but bring out his Staten Island accent and we would all enjoy a good laugh.
In closing, let's all see if we can learn from this untimely loss and carry on John's legacy of helping each other, being kind to one another, and making the best of life itself.
"There are souls in this world who have the gift of find joy everywhere and of leaving it behind them when they go."
Thoughts of you, your smile, hope and remembrance. May you rest in peace, John,
Most Sincerely,
Patricia Rose

John earned his wings in heaven here on earth ,I know John became an angel the second he left us ,John was always ready and willing to help anyone, For the past week my mind is like a video of the time we shared in the office and the conversations we had, our secret jokes, We really became a team this year and I will miss you so very much, you walking in and I always knew it was you because you never picked up your feet and I would say here comes John boy ,you are going to wear out those shoes , we talked about the good old days growing up in new york, sharing memory's because we were the same age, you looking on you tube and finding the funniest videos, telling me how you had Elaine laughing, Making every holiday in the office fun,and the best was when we ripped the office apart to get ready for our new desk and you ending up in the dumpster because someone threw the stuff in the wrong one and we were afraid we get in trouble, pictures were taken with your camera, and then our little Italian cafe in the office until our desk were delieved, So many memory's in just a few years. You left a mark on all of our hearts , We love you and we will miss you everyday. Watch over us John boy .

May you find some solace in all the memories you have collected over the years and may they hold, rock you gently in the more darker times. There is no question that you and all those who had the opportunity to be in his presence were blessed by knowing him. . . he truly was a good and fair man to all.
