Ruth Patt

AGE: 95 • Princeton

Ruth Marcus Patt, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Princeton Windrows on Sunday, February 22, 2015. She was born and raised in New Brunswick and had lived in Greenbriar, in Monroe Township,NJ for several years, before moving to Princeton Windrows Independent Living in 2012. A 1940 graduate of Douglass College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Mrs. Patt worked as a Pyschiatric Social Worker with the Marlboro Psychiatric State Hospital before joining her husband, Milton, during his World War II service in the United States and overseas Soon after returning to New Jersey, after the conclusion of Milton's service, she began her real career as a mother and a devoted member of her Temple. The rest of her adult life was filled with work in numerous philanthropic organizations. Mrs. Patt was deeply devoted to Hadassah and the State of Israel since 1948. Served as President of the Sisterhood and various boards at the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick. Board Member for many years of the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation. Mrs. Patt wrote four books and several pamphlets on the subject of Jewish life in New Jersey. She was the founder and longtime president of the Jewish Historical Society of Central New Jersey.

Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Bessie Marcus, her husband Milton Patt in 1994, her siblings, in particular her twin sister Adelaide Zagoren in 2014, she will be deeply missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Richard A. and Althea D. Patt, of Castle Rock, CO and Steven L. Patt and Deborah D. Jamison,of Cupertino, CA, her cherished grandchildren Dr. Joshua C. Patt and his wife Dr. Rhonda Patt, of Charlotte, NC and Andrea P. Moon and her husband Mark, of Castle Rock, CO and her great grandchildren Olivia, Brayton and Eliana Patt and Davis and Holden Moon.

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 12:30pm at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment in the Marcus Family Plot at Emwood Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth Patt may be made to Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple or the Jewish Historical Society of Central New Jersey.
