John Coene Obituary

John Coene

AGE: 61 • Bridgewater

61, passed away October 15, 2017 at home, surrounded by family and friends.

John was born and raised in Somerville and most recently resided in Bridgewater. Throughout his life he exhibited a wide range of talents and interests. For many years he was the owner/operator of an excavating company. For the past twenty plus years he was self-employed as a professional American Sign Language interpreter for the deaf. John had a passion for motorcycles and vintage vehicles. His greatest joy was riding motorcycles. Surviving are his companion Angie Doremus, a son John H. Coene, two brothers Henri and wife Sherrie and Charles and companion Jane, a nephew Jordan, nieces Machion and Jessica, great nieces and nephew Alyssa, Murron, and Dylan.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 for friends and family from 5 to 9pm at the Bradley Gardens American Legion, 77 Old York Rd, Bridgewater. Arrangements by Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Cremation was private.

I was so upset to hear Johnny had passed away..John was such an awesome friend to have and l feel fortunate to call him a friend of mine. When l first met him we talked a lot about Harleys. I was in the process of buying my first one and John was giving me advice on it..He took me in his group along with a few other friends and brought me around and introduced me to other bikers. He made me feel like one of the guys and welcomed me..He invited me to Christmas dinner when l had nowhere else to go. That's how Johnny was.He did things for people that only true friends would do. His friends and family were everything to him and it showed..Johnny will be sorely missed by alot of people. He was a true friend, something thats hard to come by

This earth will never be the same. Upon meeting John more than a few years ago he quickly became a big brother, complete with the teasing and banter you would expect between siblings. We didn't always agree on things but there was always respect that we thought we kept cleverly disguised as mischievous sarcasm. John was one of the most unique individuals I have ever had the honor of knowing. We will never be the same.

R.I.P. JOHN, I will always remember you from the day I met you, Charlie and your Dad with his dog at the Fairview Ave. Bar on Fairview Ave. In Somerville, NJ! I was 18 and just turned legal age to drink and you were 19 and stood up to give me your seat at the bar next to my Dad! I will never forget your kindness and so glad to have reconnected with you last year at the Eagles Club! So sorry that you had to leave us but you will be in my prayers! You can ride easy now! Prayers up!
