GALLIPOLIS — Carl R. "Bob" Veith, 76, of Gallipolis, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Holzer Senior Care.
He was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Cheshire, son of the late John and Dorothy (Fife) Veith.
Carl was a member of Addison Freewill Baptist Church. He graduated from Kyger Creek High School in 1957 and served in U.S. Army. He deeply loved his church, and enjoyed antiquing and will deeply miss his flea market buddies. Carl retired from GKN after 35 years of service in the maintenance department.
Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandy Veith; three sons, Keith (Kathy) Veith, of Gallipolis, Kelly (Subina) Veith, of Gallipolis, and Joe (Tess) Veith, of Point Pleasant; daughter Julie (Jamie) Harris, of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren: Jason (Sara) Veith, Justin Veith, Eric Veith, Sarah (Will) Barcus, Jill Veith, Grace Harris and Carson Harris; two great-grandchildren, Avery Barcus and Quinn Veith; and one sister, Dorothy Leach, of Cheshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Don Leach.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Addison Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Barcus officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Willis Funeral Home between 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016. There will be military rites provided at the cemetery by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
